Ok, operation went great - I'm now completely enamored of general anesthesia - got home safe, am relaxing after dinner and a Percocet. (Slightly loopily, as the pill kicks in. <g> I've never had Percocet before, far as I can remember. Whee!) I'll be zonking soon. With luck ::she says hopefully::, I shall feel well enough to take the pix I need Thursday, and get started on the Friday-Saturday SS post. Send energetic vibes, people! And thanks for your patience. ::hugs all readers::

Monica is vewwy, vewwy tiwed. (Mel Blanc was a genius. Can you wrap your tongue around "tiwed"? I can't.) *ahem* Somewhat loopy, in fact. <g> I have been working on the next post, indeed I have, but it has been borne in upon me that the spirit is willing, but the body is, well...whacked. Again.
Also, I need to take a photo or two to go with the ones I took at SS on Friday. No, not of swag. That'll come in the last SS post, because I'm tired. ;) Anyway, it'll be after 5am when I post this interim bit, and while I've finally finished editing the photos from Friday and Saturday...I am too tired to write now!

Y'know, back in September of 2008, during the weekend the PDX Knit Bloggers were at Oregon Flock & Fiber Festival for our second time, Blue Moon Fiber Arts had these handouts they were spreading around like crazy. Brightly-colored squares about twice the size of a business card, with gorgeous artwork of a ball of yarn surrounded by double-pointed knitting needles, above a pair of socks; and a blurb saying "Sock Summit 2009." (Remarkably like a heraldic device, in fact.) Whatever-it-was would take place in Portland - whee! - and it'd be about socks. But that was all we knew about it. Tina Newton of Blue Moon is actually a PDX Knit Blogger, so she brought over a stack of these for our little booth on Saturday, and we all ooohed. That afternoon, or maybe the next day, Tina came over again and sat down to just relax for a while, without being a celebrity. We talked about all sorts of stuff, and-- Well, I don't really remember for sure if she said much about Sock Summit. Me and my memory. ;) Besides, we were all kind of talking at once, and just having a good time. I do remember we mentioned that the PDXKB would be glad to provide volunteers. And I think most of us at OFFF that day decided then and there we'd be going to it, whether volunteering or not.

Ok, folks, I'm whacked. And it's 1:57am as I start this, and I need to roll out of bed at an ungodly hour (for me, that is) to get to the Marketplace fairly early. So I'm cheating. I got all my pix so far uploaded to my Flickr account (but not here on LJ). Edited and resized and all, but no captions.
Tomorrow, I'll be home around 5:30, and will start working on the real post with blurbs and captions and the telling of the tales. Until then, you can go look at the pix that will appear in the next post on Flickr, and at least get a teaser.
Those good intentions again... ;) Well, if I try to write anything coherent while half asleep...and you know how long I write...believe me, it wouldn't be making much sense after a while! (You should've seen the typos.)
Not to mention I'd probably sleep through all the alarms and not show up at SS until late afternoon. <g>

Hi there! Yes, it's been ages, but hopefully - cross fingers - I'm back, and I'll be starting out with Sock Summit, where'll I'll be every day it runs. This is just a quickie head's-up. <g> Spent the afternoon at the CC yesterday after registration, talking to the PDX Knit Bloggers gang, and whoever dropped by; did manage to get some pix already. (Did not manage any knitting, as usual, LOL. Except for a teeny swatch for the sock I'm starting.) Then made the mistake of getting on Ravelry while eating dinner and winding down, and hit the wall. Ahh, the best-laid intentions... Well, I was tired. <g> Back in late April I got diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, and then there's this polyp (benign, you don't have to worry) I'm getting taken care of on the 12th, and my computer up and died the first week of June - geeze, every three years like clockwork, is it a plot? - and it's been interesting, y'know? And tiring. But I'm getting more energetic now, thank ghu.
So, despite lackadaisically paving hell last night - you know, good intentions ;) - gonna do my best to make a post after the reception tonight. I'm going to head over there around noonish, and spend the day hanging out again. I didn't get into any classes, but have tix for the reception and the Luminary panel; and the PDXKB plan to stake out a table to gather at every day. (We'll be the really noisy ones with the blue buttons of a sheep with a laptop, under an umbrella). We already met some Ravelers (hi, maryquitecontrary, littlemousling!), talked to the Knitmore Girls, got our schwag, and aside from collecting hugs from local friends I haven't seen for ages, I had a wonderful hug with RachelHoftheComments!
It was a great beginning. See you there!

Several Ravelry members have recently gotten email or a blog comment that's a tad suspicious. It's--
Oh, wait. ::holds up a hand:: One thing first, just take a sec...
Hey, ccr in MA - I haven't archived this sucker yet, but one program I've read about for doing it is ljArchive. It only works for LiveJournal blogs and ones running off similar (LJ clone) blogging software, though. I have no clue about such for Blogger, alas. I'd either check Blogger's help, or Google for any info. There must be some archive programs out there; I'd think Blogger's too popular not to have any programs to archive with.

At least I'm able to log in for now, that is. Whew. And go to other pages and stay logged in. Whew again. Apparently LJ's cookies on my browser were urping. Or who knows, maybe LJ just took a dislike to me. Whatever, things seem back to normal.
I'm still not quite trusting it, though...
Anyone know a cheap hosting site with goodly storage for pix, that doesn't censor over things like slash, and lets you use WordPress? Just in case, y'know. ;) Like I'll get off my rear and transfer all of this anytime soon? Hah! I've only been talking about it for around a year.
Backing it all up, though... Oh yeah!

You heard that right. I can't log in. I get to the regular log-in page I've always used, try to log in, it bumps me to another page completely, and when I try to log in there, the sucker sits and endlessly waits for something to load...or cycles me back to logging in again.
Now what have the idiots done?! I logged in just fine this morning!
And let's see if I can even post this. Probably not. Hah. Bloody LJ, I should've pungled up for server space, move the hell away and started using WordPress. Obviously.
ARRRGH!

Feeling somewhat more human. Actually got back on Rav today. Posted, even! In celebration, here's what I hope doesn't happen to anyone I was in contact with before coming back home. <g>

It's been made apparent to me by some rather frantic messages that there's some doubt about the above, due to me suddenly going incommunicado after dire mumblings about coming home from Rhinebeck with a cold/the flu/the plague. Um. Really, I'm sorry, folks; I'm just not used to having that many people who might worry about me any more! I keep forgetting I have more friends now, bless you all, and that especially when I disappear from Ravelry, it might behoove me to give a brief hint as to what the hell's going on.
